This is a really good interface for recording a band. It’s not perfect, but it works, well.
The build quality is VERY good physically, thick front panel, decent chassis. Controls feel like good quality.
The DA on this has a bit of a high frequency boost. Very noticeable. It also has a quite low output on the monitor outputs, and the headphone outputs. I read it’s because it’s not REALLY balanced on the output, or something like that. But it has to be cranked to be heard.
It also has to be cranked on the input, as it only has about 50db of gain. So if your using something like a SM58, get ready to push it hard.
Recording wise, it sounds pretty good.
The big ‘selling point’ of this thing, is it has an ‘auto gain’ button on the front. You select the ‘auto gain’ function, select the channels you want it on, play a bit, and the unit sets the gain to what seems best. I tried using this, but decided not to actually use it for recording, as I don’t trust things like that. It may or may not work well, I just don’t care to find out.
The thing I liked the most on this unit, was the metering. It has a great metering display. Also, when you select phantom power, it has the cutest phantom power icon. That icon should be on everything.
Overall, a decent piece of equipment.
