Make / Model: Milwauke 2407-22 Drill
Year: 2020s
The keys to a good drill, in my mind, can be distilled down to three factors: Power, quality, ergonomics.
And if there is one thing Milwaukee is good at, it’s making tools with all three.
However, just due to the ergonomics of current batteries, typical 18v models can be a bit cumbersome. However, these 12v models, somehow, offer very similar performance in tools that are lighter, and smaller in footprint, which contributes drastically to the ergonomics.
As for power, even the small 1.5ma battery provides ok power, however stepping up to a 3ma or 4ma just makes this thing seem unstoppable.
It doesn’t have unlimited power: I’ve shot smoke out of the back of this thing a few times. However, it keeps working, somehow. And I think that comes down to the quality. Cheaper made tools, when you get to the ‘smoke’ part of operation, usually take a few minutes / hours to cool down, before working again, if they do at all. That has to do with component choices, and the internal design of how the tool cools itself. This thing just starts going again.
