Impressions

The truth is, you don’t need any other mic than this. Sure, other things may sound better, but this will get you 85% of the way there.

Close in, this mic has a proximity boost which can make things sound rich. And with an eq, the top end can be opened up.

Depending on the year, I have noticed some of these have a ‘growl’ to them and some seem anemic. Not sure if thats parts difference, ageing, or quality control issues. But there are good ones, and bad ones.

My favorite have seemed to be mid to late 90s ones.

Some folks swap the transformers on these. I don’t see the need.

Despite the grill, ALWAYS use with a pop filter on vocals.
