This, and the Kenwood TM-281A are the same form factor. However, there are little differences. To me, the Yaesu feels like the better radio.

For scanning outside of 2 meters, this radio allows direct input of the frequency you wish via the keypad, which for some reason, is limited to 2-meter bands on the Kenwood, making a lot of scrolling required.

This is a really decent radio. Good TX / RX. Solid.
