Product Vs. Process

We tend to ignore the process
We look at product as being devoid of any inherent meaning
But in all actuality, the product is a product of the process
We assign more relevance to the time the product is in our lives
And not to the journey it took to get there

And within that journey, is context
It’s the context of how this thing came to be
It’s the story of people, It’s the story of culture
And it’s the story of that culture’s relative morality
That is the thing, that makes life rich

When we only see things in terms of product
We are alienated from the rich culture that those things
Carry on
That those things carry, and are prevented from carrying on
That culture

Instead we cling to the signs
The intricacies of the product itself
And we emulate them, with little regard for the intended meaning
For which they were put there

This ends up creating disassociation

It ends up creating a world in which, the things we surround
Ourselves with
Are made of an ideology, that we can’t even begin to comprehend
Yet end up replicating, through our own behaviours
When we, ourselves, build more product

What is left is an absolute lack of meaning
A complete lack of meaning
A place where we emulate what we’ve seen on the things around us
Without understanding, or having a reason, for the reason they were
Put there, or for the way they were put there

We end up becoming nothing more than a facade
We end up existing as little more than a facade
